Hmmm..... I'm here, online. I'm afraid of computer's to be honest. They still confuse me. And the scary thing is- I'm one of the best with them at my work. Which is not that exciting, I do data entry with large amounts of cash and file papers and run errands and spend time goofing around when I can at the local hospital. (Don't wory- I don't have anything to do with the medical side! Strictly office!)
My real loves lie outside of work. I love writing, actually, so this could get long winded, but I'm severely out of practice.
I practically worship bellydancing now as a graceful, sensual art form..... and let's face it, a really great work out. I think it's a wonderful way to connect with other women and and my body in a positive manner.
I really enjoy art, although I know very little about it. A great deal of it makes me go- "What the f...?" Other pieces make me stare in awe, others I find interesting or trite- I don't have a lot of knowledge to base this on, just going with what I see. I'm thrilled to go to the Frist Center (perhaps despite its namesake) and go as often as I can. I've been taking a painting class, and am hoping to start a drawing class. I've taken pottery for the last three years or so-mainly handbuilding,I loved wheel but can't afford both. And am currently working doing cleaning out their to pay off my class. (I kept threatening to show up in a French maid costume the next time I have to dust.)
The two things I've loved the longest in my life are music and horses (or animals). I like many different kinds of music. I had some musical training as I was growing up, although I fear I've forgotten most all of it, and took years of piano and flute and voice lessons. (Okay specifically, about 8 of piano and flute and 3 of voice- and I've forgotten almost all!)
I actually do enjoy classical, (sometimes I feel like listening to a live concert is just listening to the musicians pour out every emotion in me that I can't find a way to express) but then when I'm alone, I'm just as likely to put in some middle eastern music, or jump to Tori Amos, System of a Down, Dido or Jem, Patti Griffith, Enya... I like many more kinds of music than I actually own the CD's of.(And I don't have internet now, so I can't download any either.) The only kinds of music I *really* don't care for are most country and most rap (but I did like a lot of Eminem's (sp?)stuff- does that count?)
So far as my great love- (I have a lot of interest, can you tell yet?) I rode horses from the time I was 6 until we (my family and I) sold them when I was 20. My parents owned three at that time. That's been some time ago now, but they still hold a very special place in my heart. I also like cats in particular, and dogs. I kinda' like iquanas and snakes and birds too.... but I find they're a lot like little children oftentimes, a wonderful joy, but you're glad to be able to send them back to their owner.
I do enjoy reading, but lately haven't had a lot of time for it! :)I became a Robert Jordan "Wheel of Time" addict over the last two years-an accomplishment as slow as I read to get thru all those! And I love Harry Potter, as all sane people do. I do indulge in the *gasp* romance novel's here and there-they're fun! And dabble in everything else from herbal, cooking, and medical books to feng shui, lapidary, children's books, Tao Te Ching,Conversations with God and LOTS of Joseph Campbell.
So, that's me in a really large nutshell..... maybe more like a grapefruit peel instead of a nutshell?
